Mowlgi Holds Mentorship Insight Session at Berytech Print

Image On Thursday April 29, 2010, Mowlgi held an Insight session in preparation for the second mentorship experience scheduled to take place from May 24 to 28 in Lebanon.

The session was led by Mr. Derek Watson who flew in especially from the UK to meet potential mentee candidates to the program.

Participants were able to understand the objectives and benefits of the program that pairs mentors and mentees across international boundaries. The pairs would subsequently work closely, over a period of one year, on the personal and professional objectives of the mentee.

Two mentees from the previous program that had kicked off in February, presented testimonials to the group. Nadine Asmar and Elie Chaaya, shared their experience about being a Mowgli mentee, and answered the questions of the participants.

The morning Insight session was followed by one-to-one meetings with Mr. Watson in which he was able to know each one of them and learn more about their businesses and their goals for the coming year. The objective was also to understand how they believed a Mowgli Mentor could help them develop their business and/or their own capabilities as a business person.

Derek Watson has over 30 years of hands-on experience in demanding, high risk, environments. After successful careers as a senior officer and fast jet pilot in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and as an operational leader with Goldman Sachs, Derek now works with the leadership of corporate, public and not for profit organisations such as Mowgli, facilitating high performance during complex change through coaching and mentoring and next generation leadership development.

Earlier in the month, Mr. Tony Bury, Founder and President of Mowgli, had visited Berytech and met with high level executives to discuss the opportunities and challenges of creating a new chapter in Lebanon, as well as ways for the two partner organisations to grow and contribute together.
