What is the activity of Djinn House?

Djinn House is currently focusing on two main activities:

1- Production of corporate films:
Corporate film is really a very appealing niche that leverages our skills and experience through the process of exploring and presenting our costumers’ visions, identities, or products through documentaries.

2- Post-production & editing:
Our work ranges from feature films, documentaries, advertisements, to the development of audio material for educational purposes.

What are the biggest challenges you faced starting up and how did you overcome them?

We have started in 1995 with the purpose of offering a distinctive platform for people who shared with us the love for movies and images; in a country where “image” meant “advertising”, and where there was almost no place for people who approached the industry with a different vision. We were not entrepreneurs, candidly said, we were dreamers and we had to learn how to cope with reality… this was our biggest challenge. Our initial energy helped us a lot at the beginning. And we did prove, after all, with our hard work and many sacrifices, that it was possible: that the movie industry was viable in Lebanon even though we are still very dependent on foreign financing.

Actually, while we did develop “commercial” productions we still produced successfully several films in collaboration with Europe, enrolling local teams that are still actively contributing to the now maturing Lebanese cinema industry.

In 2001 we decided to refocus on post-production, and we have edited more than 200 films and documentaries so far, making us one of the pioneers in the field of editing.

Our financials not being aligned with our achievements, today, we are tending to focus more and more on developing the “Corporate film” industry, which is almost non-existent in Lebanon. Now, our new challenge is to convince businesses that such films are necessary in the age of multimedia, that it isn’t a “nice-to-have” commodity but rather a new tool for engaged marketing and communication and probably the best medium to convey the Identity of a company.

What do you enjoy most from your stay in Berytech?

After the early years, we needed a “re-looking” and we needed to do so in a Professional environment where interaction with complementary partners is facilitated… Berytech with its « Image Cluster » was the natural choice. Being in Berytech isn’t just about logistics, the fantastic view and the greenery surrounding us, it’s about being in a place where one can meet very remarkable people from all over the world at special events or round tables, and where one gets unique opportunities for interacting and discussing with local and international professionals from a variety of horizons, ranging from “economy and finance” to “new technologies”.

Where do you see your company in the coming five years?

Since our inception in 1995 we have been constantly evolving with interest trough the diversity of our projects. With our new focus on a promising market niche such as Corporate Films, a market where we can make a real difference for businesses who want to invest in Corporate image and films, we feel confident that we will be able to continue our contribution to movie creation, be it in documentaries or cinema.

Anything else you would like to add?

Amid a world shaken by crisis, and the instability we bear, always think positive and stride forward consistently.
