Objectives
- Learn how to use the major tools and APIs in the iPhone SDK and how they all fit together, to develop mobile applications like the pros.
- Get hands-on coding experience and answers to your questions so you can start creating your own iPhone/iPad application with confidence.
- Save time and frustration by focusing exclusively on iPhone/iPaD development for 3 half-days with expert guidance.
What will you learn?
How to create full-featured iPhone/iPad applications from scratch. Through a series of guided instructions, hands-on coding exercises, and discussions, you'll learn the fundamentals of creating iPhone/iPad applications that look and function like some of the apps already on your iPhone/iPad. Topics include:

- Objective C overview: an introduction to Apple's objective C language and IDE
- Cocoa overview: presenting the application model and tools to build applications outlets, actions, etc.
- Developing iPhone and iPad applications: Developing a full featured iPhone and/or iPad application using the usual concepts: tab bar, pinching, scrolling, data tables, Web services.
- Creating custom controls : You are not satisfied with Apple’s visual components?! Learn how to create your own visual components by extending existing controls and customizing their behavior.
- Putting your application on the iTunes store : rules and regulations, iPhone Development Program.
Who’s it for?
This workshop will be a good fit for you if :
- You have a programming background in an object-oriented language (Java or C++).
- You're new to iPhone/iPad development.
- You have an Apple laptop equipped with development suite (Xcode, Interface builder, instruments and shark tools). Else, just bring your laptop (Apple or PC) and we will provide you with all the necessary tools!
- (optional) You come with your own idea for an application and develop it during the workshop.
Trainer
Dr. Dany Mezher, is a seasoned software developer and head of the Electrical Department at ESIB-USJ. He has developed several iPhone applications currently selling on the iTunes Store.
