Guided by the brand promise “sense & sensibility” and starting from consumer insights, develop new rich consumer experiences that meet consumers’ desire for relaxation and improving their state of mind: television shaving & beauty, domestic appliances, Audi/Video & Multimedia, peripherals & accessories, health & wellness. The Consumer Lifestyle sector was formed by Philips to apply its strengths in consumer understanding, differentiated design, innovation and market intimacy to address one thing: making a difference to the wellness of consumers all over world. Business creation within Consumer Lifestyle is driven within seven business units, each focused on developing their respective categories:

BU Television maintains Philips’ status as a leading vendor of televisions and PC monitors. Its long history of innovation in display technology is combined with a profound consumer understanding and an elemental approach to differentiated design, resulting in acclaimed, award-winning products such as the Aurea and Ambilight FlatTV ranges.
BU Shaving & Beauty is responsible for personal grooming products for both men and women, and enjoys global market leadership in the male shaving category. Shaving & Beauty is currently the most profitable BU in the Consumer Lifestyle sector, with flagship products such as the Arcitec shaver, BodyGroom and Satinelle Ice epilator demonstrating the BU’s capability in driving profitable growth in a mature category by creating exciting experiences based on validated consumer insights.
BU Peripherals and Accessories is one of the growth engines of Philips. It represents an organization which is highly market driven and offers products as diverse as the Philips-Swarovski Active Crystals range, headphones, Prestigo and Pronto remote controls, DECT and VoIP cordless phones, Apple iPod accessories produced by the recently acquired company, DLO, and power accessories including those from another Philips acquisition, PowerSentry.
BU Domestic Appliances plays a key role in Philips’ brand equity in the home, managing five categories - kitchen appliances, beverage appliances, garment care, floor care and water and air purification. BU DA addresses one of the world’s biggest and most attractive consumer markets, contributing high value concepts such as juicers, the Senseo coffee machine, Perfect Draft and Espresso machines to a total market worth between Euro 30-40 billion and strong annual growth of 4-5 per cent.
BU Health & Wellness is one of the most specialist businesses within Consumer Lifestyle, and includes the Oral Healthcare category (featuring Sonicare toothbrushes) and the Mother & Child category, Philips’ babycare business which includes the AVENT brand acquired by Philips in 2006.
BU Audio, Video & Multimedia is custodian of Philips considerable heritage in home and portable entertainment. With categories ranging from GoGear MP3 and MP4 audio/video players and home cinema and home audio systems, to portable DVD players, BU AVM maintains Philips’ presence in this ever-popular consumer market. The BU also continues to drive innovation in the A/V space, with developments such as Blu-ray Disc players and Streamium Wireless Music Systems.
BU Professional & Business is another specialist business, engaged in developing primarily display-based applications for professional markets such as hospitality, retailing and healthcare. Although a B2B business, P&BS maintains an important link between professional customers and consumers with, for example, a leading global position in hotel TV (No.1 in Europe, No.2 in the US) enhancing the ‘home-away-from-home’ proposition hotel chains are increasingly striving for.

  • amBX gaming peripherals: “Simplicity is taking entertainment beyond audio visual and changing your complete room into an entertainment system”. Only Philips amBX intensifies your gaming experiences by touching more senses (fan, rumbling pipe and other desktop gaming applications)
  • Espresso Machine: More and more people are enjoying espresso beverages, such as cappuccino and latte machiatto. They would like to have their own espresso machine at home, but are put off by the complexity of specialist-brand machines. The Philips One-touch Espresso Machine gives consumers that real “espresso experience” in their own homes, without any of the usual hassles. In fact, the more advanced model is so simple it makes delicious cappuccino at just the push of a button.
