Women in Information Technology (WIT) is a Lebanese non-profit association established in 1 July 2005 dedicated to inspire more women to be willing and able to use the new technologies as a tool for their social and economic empowerment.
WIT is a network of successfully talented young women and the men who support them, all dedicated to improve their lives and professions by using ICT as well as helping those around them to achieve the same.
Girls represent more than half the future workforce, but when it comes to Engineering, Sciences, and Information & Communications Technology, few get enough guidance and encouragement to consider it as a career. Furthermore, girls not willing or not able to use ICT will be the new illiterates as the new technologies have become an integral part of modern society.
Aiming to challenge that reality and to meet its mission and goals, WIT has created programs and partnerships that provide resources, opportunities and a supportive environment of women committed to helping each other to achieve their goals.
WIT Goals are:
Provide a platform of connections, resources and opportunities
Prepare women to fill leadership positions
Demonstrate that advancing women directly contributes to the prosperity of all
Encourage girls and young women to choose engineering, sciences, and technology careers
We aim to reach all the society in order to achieve transformations and accomplishments through technology, leadership and willingness.
