The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. It promotes knowledge of the German language abroad and fosters international cultural cooperation. It conveys a comprehensive picture of Germany by providing information on Germany's cultural, social and political life.
The Goethe-Institut Libanon in Beirut organizes and supports a broad spectrum of cultural events that present German culture and promote international cultural exchange.
The work of the language department concentrates on training workshops and seminars for teachers of German as a foreign language. It also offers a comprehensive examination program.
The library and information service of the Goethe-Institut Beirut aims to provide an accurate, pluralistic view of German culture, politics and society. Moreover, it offers the public a multifaceted collection of books, audio-visual materials, newspapers and journals in various languages for everyone, who takes an interest in Germany or is learning or teaching the German language.
The Goethe-Institut draws on the rich variety of the many-faceted open society and Germany's lively culture. It combines the experiences and conceptions of its partners in Germany and abroad with its professional skills and engages in a dialogue rooted in partnership. In doing so, the Goethe-Institut functions as service providers and partners for everyone taking an active interest in Germany and the German language and culture, and act independently with no political affiliations. It faces the cultural policy challenges of globalisation and develop innovative concepts for a world made more human through mutual understanding, where cultural diversity is seen as an asset.
