| Telecine, film restoration and archiving |  | The Gate Sal officially opened on the 23rd of November 2001 in Beirut, to be the only film laboratory and telecine facility in Lebanon. The Gate has set up this facility in cooperation with Kodak for developing 16 and 35mm film negatives in addition to grading and transfer. Our staff is highly qualified and extremely reliable. State of the art equipment: Our film laboratory is equipped with Calder negative film processor for 16 and 35mm films, and a Lipsner Smith ultra sonic film cleaner. The telecine facility is equipped with an URSA Gold telecine upgraded with ITK’s Twiggy, a Pogle millennium controller and a PIXIE color corrector. * New: Our URSA Gold is also equipped with an Aaton Keylink (for keycode reading) and an INDAW (for Sound Synchronization). Since our launching we have been working on commercials, music videos and feature films. In a continuous effort to enrich the film industry and encourage future generations, The Gate has organized student workshops, tours and DOP/ Producer meetings. We have worked closely with DOPs, to introduce Kodak's latest emulsions, with special workshops: ex. Vision 2 workshop and launching. Meetings for Directors - DOPs and Producers have been held, to discuss latest events, technologies, problems... As for students, beside several workshops held by The Gate and Kodak, we have held a two week training period during the summer where students were introduced to the lab and telecine and how the work is done, step by step. The Gate was also the initiator of the Lebanese Film Foundation; which has set as its goal to finance three to five feature films per year. The Gate & Kodak Cinelabs Lebanon was one of the main sponsors of the Student Film Festival held at USJ university.
