Image The "How-to” of Technology Acquisition, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conference took place on May 26-28, 2014 at the Hilton Bosphorus in Istanbul, Turkey.  This initiative by the World Bank is a practitioners exchange and learning series for the Middle-East and North Africa (MENA) region seeking to advance policy implementation by distilling operational lessons on the “how” of public support to technology acquisition, entrepreneurship and innovation-driven growth. It comprised a series of cross-regional Innovation Forums, Study Tours and Knowledge Notes for the World Bank client counterparts and experts/practitioners in the field to collaboratively work policy and program solutions for specific challenges leveraging knowledge from the latest research and working in thematic based groups.

To meet the demand for greater access, without committing further public funds, governments have encouraged the shift towards private universities, initiated in the 1950s. The challenge today is to maintain quality, despite faster growing enrolments than resources. Meanwhile, the question of employability has become increasingly pressing, in a context of globalisation.

PACEIM program selected 28 new entrepreneurs

Image On the 14th and 15th April 2014, Marseille has hosted the third meeting of the “Programme d’aide à la création d’entreprises innovantes en Méditerranée” (PACEIM). Nearly 150 people attended the event organized by the “Institut de Recherche pour le Développement” (IRD) in partnership with Marseille Innovation and fifteen institutions of the southern Mediterranean. At the end of these days, 28 new winners have been selected and will receive individual coaching and a seed funding to start their own business in Algeria, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia.

Mr. Zadi Hobeika form Game theory exposes a new emerging market .

Where did the idea of game theory come from?
When asked why Game Theory, Mr. Zadi Hobeika stated “I was working for Google till last summer and I was handling advertising solution for the region. So, I was dealing with top companies and top agencies by helping them tackle and implement”. He added that given the high demand in the Middle Eastern market it’s a huge opportunity and the risk is worth it. In fact, there are agencies that are handling the big customers, agencies and freelancers handling the individuals or small companies but, there are few tackling the mid-market of digital agencies.
